What is required to sustain
global education on our campus?

Your campus has leapt the chasm to bring global education to your learners. Now what?

How does your campus sustain the programs it has begun with such enthusiasm?

It is vital that your campus have an institutional membership in some national community college global education membership organization. Which one your campus ultimately joins will depend on your local needs.

We recommend that your campus examine the particular services of the American Council on International Intercultural Education (ACIIE) and the Community Colleges for International Development (CCID).

There are also certain requirements to sustaining an effective, comprehensive global education program:
  • Offer opportunities and rewards that give priority to the development of global competency; e.g., faculty seminars, sabbaticals, opportunities for exchange, tuition waivers, and release time. These and other mechanisms allow institutions to clearly demonstrate their commitment to global education.

  • Colleges must aim toward building a total environment, from admission through program completion, that reflects a consistent institutional approach and commitment to global competence.

  • Obtain additional funding to perpetuate global education efforts.

  • Seek active community involvement in your global education program.

  • Utilize available technology.
