AACC: American Association of Community Colleges
AACC has been a national voice for two-year associate degree granting institutions since its inception in 1920. Located in the National Center for Higher Education in Washington, DC, AACC works with other higher education associations, the federal government, Congress, and other national associations that represent the public and private sectors to promote the goals of community colleges and higher education.

ACCT: Association of Community College Trustees
ACCT is a nonprofit educational organization of governing boards that represents more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern over 1,200 community, technical, and junior colleges in the United States, Canada, and England.

These community professionals, business officials, public policy leaders, and leading citizens offer their time and talent to serve on governing boards of this century's most innovative higher education institutions—community, junior, and technical colleges—and make decisions that affect more than 1,200 colleges and over 11 million students annually.

ACIIE: American Council on International Intercultural Education
ACIIE is the affiliate council of the AACC, with membership comprised of approximately 120 colleges involved in international and intercultural education. This organization helps community colleges cultivate educational partnerships and participate in programs with organizations worldwide. ACIIE pursues this mission through annual conferences, a printed newsletter for its membership, a listserv and Web site, teleconferences, and other programs and activities that foster the dissemination of information and networking among members.

CCID: Community Colleges for International Development
The mission of CCID is to provide opportunities for building global relationships that strengthen educational programs, and promote economic development.

To accomplish its mission, CCID provides:

  • Technical Training. Develops technical training for economic independence and human resource development.
  • Economic Development. Supports curriculum development and programs that encourage global understanding.
  • Partnerships. Facilitates educational exchanges that result in increased global awareness.
  • Leadership. Initiates and coordinates international linkages to advocate the necessity of global partnerships.
  • Professional Development. Initiates, facilitates, and encourages international relationships that enhance global competencies.

League for Innovation
An international association dedicated to catalyzing the potential of the community college movement.

MIIIE: Midwest Institute for International/Intercultural Education
A self-funded consortium consisting of two-year colleges. Its primary objective is to support curriculum and professional development by offering an annual curriculum conference, several regional workshops, and facilitating the use of faculty mentors and professional groups.

NAFSA: Association of International Educators
A 52-year-old nonprofit membership association that provides training, information, and other services to professionals in the field of international education exchange and specialized programs for international students.
